The Evolution of Construction

Construction

The culture of men's footwear has driven the development of many established shoe construction methods. Over three generations, Magnanni has refined Bologna construction to meet our critical standards of design and comfort to create the ideal dress shoe.

TECHNIQUE

Bologna construction completely wraps the foot in a leather lining to create the feeling of a glove. The layers are then double-lasted during manufacturing to align the soft inner leather and the hand-painted upper. Each stage of this method receives meticulous care to ensure the balance and integrity of the shoe's presentation and fit.

THE DIFFERENCE IS COMFORT

THE DIFFERENCE

Although laborious, this technique is the foundation of what makes the Magnanni dress shoe superior in terms of flexibility and comfort. By wrapping the foot in a glove-like, leather lining, Bologna construction eliminates the notion of a traditional break in period allowing the shoe to respond organically to the volume and expansion of your foot.
